Body Piercing

I am under 18 and want to get a piercing done, what do you require?
At Soul Survivors Body Art, any piercing done on a minor requires parental/legal guardian consent and verification with ID. What this means is that both the minor and the legal guardian need to be on the premises with appropriate photo ID (Any government issued identification plus the Manitoba issued health card that has both parent/guardian’s and the minor’s name ). Please call with any other questions regarding acceptable ID.

The one exception to this rule is in regards to ear piercings, Parental consent is not required to pierce any part of the ear as per the Manitoba By-law. This will be determined on an individual basis by Soul Survivors Body Art.

Do you pierce babies ears?

We do not pierce babies ears but will pierce the ears of children starting at the age of ten. This is done at the piercer’s discretion.

Do you accept walk ins for piercings?

Yes, however walk ins are on a first come first serve basis and any existing appointments take priority. We will always do our best to accommodate walk ins, however, this will require you to be flexible with your time. Certain piercings may not be available for walk ins due to their nature, complexity, and time required. To inquire more about our walk in availability please call or message us at (204) 284-1173

Can I bring in my own jewellery to be pierced with?

No. We only use our own jewelry for the initial piercing for two main reasons, all of our jewellery is pre-packaged and autoclave sterilized and is safely ready to be used. When we use our own jewelry we are aware of the specific material that we are using and use only the highest grades of implant grade surgical steel/titanium that facilitate the quickest healing process.

Can I have my initial piercing done with a ring?

Yes you can, however, you must be 18 to choose a ring for your piercing, and we would still encourage you to consider using a stud as this style of jewellery generally promotes a quicker healing process.

How long does it take for a piercing to fully heal?

Piercing healing times vary based on the piercing and the care of the client, but typically can range anywhere from 6 weeks up to 1 year. This can be determined for each client in relation to the area of the body, and the choice of jewellery.

How long before I can work out?
There is no set amount of time. Many people continue in their regular workout schedule but are very mindful of their new piercing.
I can’t get my jewellery out, what should I do?

The jewellery we use at Soul Survivors Body Art is mainly threaded or pressure fit, we put these pieces on very tightly so as to reduce the risk of the jewellery loosening or falling out. You can book an appointment or try for walk in availability and we will remove it for you.

I have a bump on my piercing is it infected?
No. When tissue is healing around a piercing it is not uncommon for the piercing to develop a small bump or node. This is commonly referred to as a keloid, but could be a number of things such as a granuloma or hypertrophic scar tissue, and is most often just a natural part of the healing process. The body will (most often) simply reabsorb this tissue over time. We also carry a locally crafted all natural oil designed specifically to aid in resolving the above mentioned issues. If you are concerned with the healing process you can simply book a follow up appointment as well.
Can I bring a friend with me?
Yes, a friend can accompany you to the studio but unfortunately we do not allow guests in the piercing room for the actual appointment. Guests often can be distracting to both the piercer and you the client, and adds a degree of nervous energy to the environment. When it is just the piercer and the client we are able to offer more focused care which will usually alleviate some of the heightened energy that the client may be experiencing.
Can I get a piercing if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

We prioritize the safety and well-being of our clients. Therefore, we do not offer any piercing procedures to individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding. These conditions may affect the healing process and pose potential risks to both the individual and the baby. We recommend waiting until after pregnancy and breastfeeding before considering a piercing. If you have any concerns or specific questions, please consult with your healthcare provider before scheduling a piercing appointment.

Tattooing

I am under 18 but have parental consent, am I able to get tattooed at Soul Survivors Body Art?
Soul Survivors does not tattoo anyone under the age of 18, even with parental consent.
Do you accept walk ins?
Yes we do. Walk ins are taken on an individual basis based on the availability of our time and the complexity of the design. Simple small designs are most often able to be accommodated however larger more involved designs are generally not considered a walk in tattoo and require a consult and a degree of design time.
How do I book a tattoo appointment?
Tattoo appointments are booked either in person, or over email at [email protected]. The appointment will require a deposit and you will likely have to send photos of your design to the receptionist in order to receive an appropriate quote and time slot accordingly.
Do I need a consultation?

Not all tattoos automatically require a consultation appointment. If you have never been tattooed before we do recommend it to familiarize yourself with the process and the artist. It can be very reassuring to meet your artist prior and feel confident about the day you get the tattoo.

If you want to get a pre-existing tattoo covered up a consultation is mandatory. Bookings for consultations can be done over the phone at (204) 284-1173

There are no guests permitted for consultation appointments.

Do you charge for consultation appointments?
There is no fee for a consultation whether you do or do not book your tattoo appointment. We ask that you only schedule a consult once you are certain about the design, have relevant artwork or reference material moving forward with the design. Any general inquiries can be addressed to the reception at the studio.
How do I go about booking an appointment and is a deposit required?
After the completion of your consult you are able to schedule an appointment, and a deposit is required. The deposit can range from $80-120+, and for larger works the tattooer will advise at the time of consultation. The deposit is subtracted from the cost of your tattoo on your last appointment (if it is multiple sessions). Deposits are non refundable and non transferable.

If I change my mind can I get my money back?

Deposits are non-refundable.

What is the rescheduling policy?
We have a 72 hour cancellation policy. Any changes under 72 hours results in a forfeit of deposit. If you need to reschedule your appointment you must contact the studio directly through our phone line at 204-284-1173. Emailing your artist, or our social media accounts will not constitute a proper communication of your appointment change and the deposit will be considered forfeit as a result.
Can I bring a friend with me?
Yes but we only allow one guest in the room during your tattoo time. If you bring multiple people they will not be able to go in the room with you.
Where can I park?
Free street parking is available on all side streets. There are metered parking lots on either corner of Osborne St. and Stradbrook St. The parking lot on the east side is directly in front of Tokyo Smoke and is very convenient (same side of the street as Soul and just a few steps away from our front door). As well, there is also another large metered parking lot directly behind Tokyo Smoke that is accessible either through this lot or off Pulford St. (in the lane between Osborne St. and Pulford St.)
Is there anything I need to do before my appointment?
Get a good rest the night before, have a meal prior to your appointment, bring orange juice, energy bars or anything of the sort to keep up your blood sugar levels.
Is there any parts of the body you will not tattoo?
We will not tattoo hands, neck, or facial area unless you are already very heavily tattooed or of an advanced age.
Are there any images you will not tattoo?
We will not tattoo anything that perpetuates prejudice, violence, or intolerance in any way.
Are there any reasons you will not tattoo an individual?
Yes, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding we will not apply a tattoo. We will not tattoo any area where the skin is compromised and will affect the tattoo. We will not tattoo anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

We also have the right to refuse service if we are not able to come to an agreement on image, placement or if the artist feels that they are not suited for your particular tattoo.

Can I see my design before my appointment?
Unfortunately, this is not something we offer unless you have discussed this prior with your tattoo artist. The point of the consult is to get clear on the images that you are seeing in your minds eye and create it for you. If any small modifications are required to the design on the day of the appointment there is adequate time for adjustments.
What is your hourly rate?
For single session tattoos we do not go on an hour to hour basis. We offer quotes based on several variables; complexity of design, colour vs black and grey, location on the body, and size. We provide you with the total investment before the start of the tattoo so that you know exactly what the price is. For larger/multiple session pieces we will give you an estimate but this can be very tricky on large scale work and is based on $200 per hour.
Is Soul Survivors Body Art safe and clean?
Absolutely! We pride ourselves in having an immaculate studio space. We use only sterilized, single-use, disposable needles and supplies. This means that each set-up for each client is discarded safely afterwards. All of our stations are thoroughly sanitized before and after each procedure throughout the day.
How do I heal my tattoo?
We offer a detailed aftercare information sheet for every client as well we review the details of your aftercare orally upon the completion of your tattoo. Our artists offer different methods of bandaging your tattoo and you will be informed specifically how to care for your tattoo at the time of the appointment.
Will I need touch-ups?
Touch ups are not always necessary but it is good to have a follow up with your artist to confirm if you require them or not. IF you know you need to have touch ups done an appointment can be booked through messaging or calling us at 204-284-1173. Touch ups are subjects to a $60 tray fee, and could be more based on the size of the tattoo and the nature of the touch up.
